nrf9160 chip version on latest board v4

I have purchased a nrf9160 feather, and it looks to me to be v3 of the board. The nrf9160 chip is SICA B0, with 1.2.3 modem firmware. It should be possible op upgrade to modem firmware 1.3.1, but 1.3.1 cannot be used for production (according to Nordic) on this chip.
My question is: If I order another board, is the v4 delivered with the newer nrf9160 chip?
(I was unsuccesful in upgrading the modem firmware anyway using tag connect and a nrf5340dk, I got error “no matching trait found”.

V4 still has B0 at the moment. Will be upgrading this year though.

I believe the only DK that can update is the nRF9160DK. You may have luck with a J-Link as well. You can also update the MFW over serial using the mfw_update sample in NFED

Can’t update modem via nrf9160DK either (an early version of the DK though, but j-link firmware upgraded).
I will try mfw_update method later (I can transfer .hex files using tag-connect)

question: The SIM card that came with the product, does it work in Denmark? (europe). I can scan for networks and see
TDC A/S, telenor Denmark, Telia and also Telia sverige AB because I am close to Sweden.

re. modem firmware upgrade, I ended up installing an older version 3.7.2 of nrfConnect & the corresponding old programmer, end then I could update to 1.3.1 using a nrf5340DK (preview version).

Just for your information. I registered the hologram SIM. It took a while before I discovered that the feather had registered with the danish provider Telenor Denmark, and the correct APN hologram was automatically set. very good!

I am thinking about buying one more copy of your feather board, to get version 4. Do you know by now if there will be further upgrades to the board when you upgrade to the newer nrf9160 silicon?

intelcomdk there are some manufacturing issues I’d like to fix but improvements will be minimal. No estimated time on when B1 silicon will be used though unfortunately.

I did order two more feathers to play with, plus some extras. Do you have Kicad symbol and footprint files for the feather, I will use it on top of a board (my own design).
