Programming nRF9160 module

As I understand there are two parts of programming the nRF9160 - the modem firmware and the application code.
The modem firmware will be programmed through the SWD pins (SWDCLK and SWDIO). Can the application code also be programmed through the same pins? Or do we have to use UART interface like we do for nRF Feather?

SilasValera yes, you can program your firmware though SWD as well. More info here.
