Hi,

I am using a new sim card. I have downloaded the NRF connect, command line tools, and opened the LTE Link Monitor. I connected my device but I still can’t see it under the devices tab (flow control and support devices are unchecked).

Can you help here? Do I have an old version of something?

Sorry @niratk7 can you provide more information on what you’re trying to accomplish? Can you confirm your SIM is active? You’re using a nRF9160 Feather?

Make sure you go through the Getting Started and follow all the steps.

      Hey Jared,

We are simply just trying to use a new SIM. from Soracom vs the old sim that we were using from AT&T.

This feather we are using, has already been programmed and used in the past with an old sim.

All I did now, was put the new sim back in, activated it on Soracom’s site, but it didn’t come online. I then proceeded to follow your instructions to download NRF connect for Desktop and opened the LTE Link monitor but can’t see the device.

      I’m using Windows.

Would it be possible to jump on a call right now or today for 15 to. 30 min? We have a customer on-site tomorrow and really need to get these online.

I’m sure it’s something very small but I can’t seem to figure it out.

Yes, we are using the NRF9160 Feather

@niratk7 sorry didn’t realize it was you!

Are you setting the PDP context for AT&T still? That will definitely cause issues if you’re trying to use Soracom instead. Soracom’s is set automatically so no intervention is necessary in your firmware. Hope that helps!

That might be the issue. Do you set the PDP context in the firmware?

Yes, you either explicitly set it or you let the modem negotiate it on its own.

Looks like we didn’t explicitly set the PDP to AT&T.

Any other thoughts on why it’s not working?

I just retested the AT&T sim and it worked

Do you have a log from a connection attempt? I also assume you have your antenna hooked up correctly? I would also triple check the IMEI on your SIM matches the one you have activated.

I was referring to the ICCID which is the unique ID of the SIM card itself. Soracom’s interface will have that for sure.

The logs you provided aren’t from the device. Looks like the logs from nRF Connect Desktop. You want to invoke the Zephyr Tools: Serial Monitor within VSCode and select the COM port that is associated with the nRF9160. (Make sure it’s plugged in beforehand)

Once logging, I would hit the reset button to get a boot, and likely connect, log.

Did you check, if the Soarcom SIM supports LTE-M or NB-IoT in your region at all?

Maybe it’s worth to check the +CEREG rejection code (see AT commands), or PDN errors, if there are some.

AT&T sounds like was working there which is supported by Soracom

AT&T sounds like was working there which is supported by Soracom

I saw their map. Anyway, the rejection code or PDN error would help to see, what fails.
                                Maybe switching between LTE-M and/or NB-IoT helps.
