Set APN for 1NCE SIM (NB-IOT)

Using the nRF9151 Feather board. Trying to get a 1NCE NB-IOT sim card to work. It requires setting the APN to “iot.1nce.net”. See:

Is there a sample that shows how this is done?

It works without :-). I don’t know, why 1nce mention that, but I use 1nce SIMs and it never did require to setup the APN.
If you really want to do that, see modem_apply_apn, which must be re-applied every time the modem switches off. But again, I never need to use it for 1nce SIMs.

Thanks. That is good to know. I am trying to validate the SIM using the nfed/samples/https sample. It just hangs when calling lte_lc_connect(). Any tips on how to validate? I’m assuming the SIM is installed on the board with the end of the SIM’s angled corner going in first and the connectors facing down towards the board.

@MikeH do you have an antenna connected and are you sure that NB-IoT is available in your area? NB is not as common as CAT M1 some places. (ex. USA)

1nce coverage map

In my experience the best approach is to enable both, NB-IoT and LTE-M and see, what gets connected. The most sayings about NB-IoT (energy, range) depends a lot on your usage; with TCP the most of them vapors.
A initial network search may also take a couple of minutes (up to 6-8, but only on good radio conditions. on less good it may require even multiple search runs).
